Intro to Camera & Health and Safety Tuturial - Bradley Peppett

In a recent lesson we were introduced to the cameras which we would use to film our opening to a thriller movie. We were given a introduction on how to use the cameras, filming equipment and health and safety.

We were shown the following:

  • The Camera.

  • The SD memory cards and readers.

  • The tripod.

  • The video drives.

Firstly we were shown the cameras and how to start it up. We were told how to place the battery inside the camera and how to turn it on. Once the battery was in we were told how to place the SD memory card into the camera (there were 2 SD card slots, A and B). Once we had done that we turned on the cameras and were told how to zoom, how to manually focus and not automatically, how to record, how to stop recording and how to watch your video.

We were then introduced to the tripod. A tripod is a 3 legged rack used for support for the camera to make it as still as possible, it can also be extended to different heights. We were told that we should use tripods allot while filming our opening to a thriller as it produces a more steady video.

Next we were told about the SD memory cards and how we should use them correctly. They are placed at the bottom of the camera, in either slot A or B. We were told that we should not put the card into the camera while the card is switched to lock, as it might not work 100%.

We were also show the card readers, which you place the SD card into and plug the adaptor into a USB port.

Finally we were shown the video drives. This is a storage device that will store all of our work, including raw videos and final videos.
